E-mail: zlxia@shmu.edu.cn

Dr. Zhao-lin Xia, BM, MPH, PhD., is Professor of Occupational Health and Toxicology at Fudan University's School of Public Health, Shanghai, China. He is a former postdoctoral scholar of the Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, USA and his research interests include genetic polymorphisms (genes of toxicant-metabolizing enzymes and DNA repair) of environmental diseases resulting from exposure to chemicals such as benzene, vinyl chloride, etc., as well as prevention and control of occupational injuries. Dr. Xia's ongoing projects include: research concerning polymorphism in genes of DNA repair and toxicant-metabolizing enzymes; risk of chronic poisoning in benzene-exposed workers; occupational exposure assessment of vinyl chloride and its genetic susceptibility of injury induced among VCM-exposed workers; environmental factors and genetic susceptibility to childhood leukemia, focusing on polymorphism in genes of DNA repair and toxicant-metabolizing enzymes; genetic susceptibility to silicosis complicated with pulmonary tuberculosis, focusing on identifying the combined effect of pathogen occupation and host genetic susceptibility; and safety promotion and prevention of occupational injuries in industries. Professor Xia is Vice Chairman of the Committee on Occupational Health of the Shanghai Society of Preventive Medicine; Vice Chairman of the Committee on Occupational Health of the Chinese Association of Occupational Safety and Health; Vice Chairman of the Committee on Industrial Toxicology of the Chinese Society of Toxicology; and Fellow of Collegium Ramazzini.
