Hryhorczuk Daniel

Dr. Daniel Hryhorczuk serves as Director of the Great Lakes Centers for Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The Great Lakes Centers are a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre in Occupational and Environmental Health. He is a Professor of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences and Epidemiology at the University of Illinois School of Public Health. Dr. Hryhorczuk is a board-certified physician in occupational and environmental medicine and in medical toxicology. He previously served as the Chief of the Section of Clinical Toxicology at Cook County Hospital and was the founder and Director of Chicago’s Toxikon Consortium. He has served as president of the U.S. Association of University Programs in Occupational Safety and Health and as a member of the U.S. National Advisory Committee on Occupational Health. Dr. Hryhorczuk has authored or co-authored over a hundred publications on a variety of subjects including toxic metals, organochlorines, and environmental health threats to children. He is actively involved in collaborative research, training, and capacity-building in occupational and environmental health in Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus. He is an international member of the Ukrainian and Russian Academies of Medical Sciences. He currently serves as a member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Children’s Health Protection Advisory Committee and a member of the U.S. National Children’s Study Independent Study Monitoring and Oversight Committee.
