Marco Vinceti holds an MD degree and a residency in Public Health from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE), and a PhD degree in Public Health from the University of Milan. He is associate professor of Epidemiology and Public Health at the UNIMORE Medical School, Director of the Research Center in Environmental, Genetic and Nutritional Epidemiology of UNIMORE, independent Scientific Expert of the European Food Safety Authority (Panel "Nutrition, Dietetic Products and Allergy" and Working Group "Minerals and Vitamins"). He is president of the Italian Association for Trace Element Research (named AISETOV), member of the Board of the Federation of the European Societies for Trace Elements (FESTEM), member of the Cochrane Collaboration Network and lead author of the Cochrane Systematic Review on selenium, member of the Environment and Health Committee of the Italian Society of Hygiene, Public Health and Preventive Medicine, and member of the international epidemiologic societies ISEE, IEA and SER.
His main research fields are: the human health effects of heavy metals, selenium and pesticides; methods in environmental and nutritional epidemiology; the epidemiology and environmental risk factors of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, birth defects, childhood leukemia, and diabetes.
